LOCKDOWN ORDER ON 20.05.2021 IN PUNJAB

 Government of the Punjab, Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department issued lockdown order on 20.05.2021 in the wake of  constantly rising of COVID-19 cases in the Province of Punjab.


The details of order is as under:-

1. Activities: Complete ban is imposed on all commercial activities after 8:00 PM and all markets and establishments shall remain closed thereafter. Exemption is granted only to following essential services: 

"Pharmacies / Medical stores, Medical Facilities and Vaccination Centers, Petrol Pumps, Tandoors, Milk / Dairy Shops, Food Takeaways and E-commerce / Courier / Postal Services & Utility Services (Electricity, Natural Gas, Internet, Cellular Networks / Telecom, Call Centers, Media), Auto workshops, Oil Depots and all kinds of Mandis including Grain, Fruit, Cattle and Vegetable Mandis."

2. Closed Days: Saturday & Sunday shall be observed as Closed Days whereby all activities shall be banned and markets / establishments shall remain closed. Exemption is granted only to following essential services: 

Pharmacies / Medical stores, Medical Facilities and Vaccination Centers, Petrol Pumps, Tandoors, Milk / Dairy Shops, Food Takeaways and E-commerce / Courier / Postal Services & Utility Services (Electricity, Natural Gas, Internet, Cellular Networks / Telecom, Call Centers, Media), Auto workshops, Oil Depots and all kinds of Mandis including Grain, Fruit, Cattle and Vegetable Mandis" 

3. Weddings / Functions: There shall be complete ban on indoor weddings / functions throughout the province and all types of Marriage Halls, Community Centers, Marquees and Event Halls shall remain closed. Outdoor weddings shall be allowed w.e.f. 1st June, 2021 with maximum limit of 150 guests and strict implementation of COVID-19 SOPs. 

4. Restaurants: There shall be complete ban on Indoor dining throughout the province. However, outdoor dining, including food courts in malls, shall be allowed till 11:59 PM w.e.f. 24th May 2021.

5. Amusement Parks: Amusement parks throughout the province shall remain closed, however, walking / jogging tracks shall remain open subject to strict adherence of COVID-19 SOPs. 

6. Mask Wearing: All Citizens shall use face covering in public spaces throughout the province. 

7. 50% Work from Home: All Public / Private offices and establishments throughout the province shall resume normal working hours and follow the policy of work from home for 50% of their staff. 

8. Cinemas: All Cinemas / Theatres shall remain closed throughout the province. 

9. Shrines: All Shrines / Mazaars shall remain closed throughout the province. 

10. Gatherings: There shall be complete ban of all types of indoor and outdoor gatherings throughout the province. 

11. Sports, Festivals, Cultural and other events: There shall be complete ban on contact sports, festivals, cultural, social and other events throughout the province. It is clarified that contact sports do not include outdoor sports such as Cricket, Golf, Tennis and Badminton. 

12. Inter provincial, Intercity and Intra city public transport: All types of inter provincial, intercity and intra city public transport shall operate at 50% of total capacity. However, all types of inter provincial public transport shall remain closed for two days (Saturday & Sunday), every week, w.e.f. 22nd May 2021. Exemption is granted to Goods / freight, medical and other emergency services. 

13. Gyms: All indoor gyms shall remain closed throughout the province. 

14. Tourism: Tourism sector shall be allowed to open subject to strict adherence of COVID-19 SOPs w.e.f. 24th May 2021. Separate instructions shall also be issued in this regard. 

15. Railways: Railways shall operate at maximum 70% of total seating capacity. 


Industrial and Agricultural activities and establishments shall remain exempt from operation of this order. 

District administration and Police shall work in close liaison to ensure strict implementation of this order. 

This order shall come into force immediately within territorial limits of Punjab and shall remain in force till 15th June 2021. 

This order shall be given wide publicity in official Gazette, Daily Newspapers and broadcasting through Radio Pakistan, Pakistan Television and other TV Channels as news item for information of the general public.
